It's not until you have something taken away from you, that you realize how much you want it, how much you need it...
My 40D died last week. And it probably won't be very cost effective to repair it. But, It's gonna be okay. Sure, that camera was a great companion, on many journeys. Both a teacher and colleague. But it's still just an instrument, a thing. What I miss about it is the concept. Things, on the other hand, come and go.

Things that have been said and done, gone and past, are just that. It's here and now that's real, that matters. So just be here, and live now. Don't wait for things to come on their own, don't wait for things to just happen. Simply grab them while you can, and take them for what they are. The worst thing is loosing something you never actually had.

Hm, yes...

People surprise you, constantly, period. Well, sometimes those are good surprises, and sometimes they are not, sometimes they fall short. But what about all the surprises that were meant for you, that you didn't even notice?
Perhaps we all give the best of our hearts uncritically to those who hardly think about us in return, and perhaps we don't even give the time of the day to those we mean everything to. Why do we do it? What is that drives us to do the things we do? To make the choices we make?
We constantly search for things, places, people, and we usually find what we want, but not what we need. You know, it's never about the people that are standing in front off you, talking your ear off, it's about the person standing next to you, that catches you when you fall.
